Books, Manuscripts
Subject: This book tells the story of the Kru community in Liverpool and Freetown, Sierre Leone. The Kru worked as ship's labourers and seafarers within British colonial trade with West Africa. Originally from Liberia, many settled in Freetown and Liverpool. The book uses traditional sources and oral histories from elders in Liverpool today, to reconstruct the social, economic and political history of this segment of Liverpool's Black community.
