Red pardee

Ketchum, Philip, 1902-19692021
Large Print
Tom and Myrt Gallard were good people, even though they were white. They were old-timers so maybe they knew a little bit more than most about Indians, and somehow they had never gotten around to thinking of them as any different to themselves. So it was as natural as breathing to them to want a half-Indian boy when they elected to adopt a child. Like any conscientious father, Tom Gallard figured to teach young Red Pardee how to take care of himself. With gun, knife, fists, or anything else that was handy. Tom just didn't know how well he could teach - or how apt a pupil he had. Which was lucky - because Red ended up taking care of a lot more than just himself.
