Subject: Today there are people from the Indian subcontinent living all over the world. People from this area have migrated since ancient times. Some were willing to move, such as the students, professionals and traders. Others, like the indentured labourers taken to British colonies such as Sri Lanka, Fiji, Trinidad and Guyana, were pushed into going because they were very poor and had no work. After the partition of India in 1947, many people lost their homes and some decided to migrate abroad. This book presents the history of Indian migrations.
