Summary:
Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski star in this romantic drama set in the Arctic Circle. The film, based on the 1989 book 'Freeing the Whales' by Tom Rose, follows Operation Breakthrough, a real-life 1988 international effort to rescue a family of endangered grey whales trapped by rapidly-forming ice near Point Barrow in Alaska. As the world watches events unfold, sparks fly between local news reporter Adam Carlson (Krasinski) and his ex-girlfriend, Greenpeace volunteer Rachel Kramer (Barrymore). Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney and Ted Danson co-star.
