Notes:
Completed in 1874, The Ancoats and Ardwick Dispensary was one of Manchester's earliest hospital's, serving the sick and injured of a burgeoning urban workforce.
It was the first building of the rapidly-expanding Ancoats Hospital, a community asset close to so many hearts. Its also the last to survive, at least in part. That any of it remains at all is down to the passion of local people who fought the threat of demolition with such tenacity. After years of decay the Gothic-style facades have been renovated and the distinctive tower- Ancoats' beacon- has been rebuilt. Now tenats in the newly-built apartments call this place home.
