Began as Monmouth Street Board School 29 April 1903. The school moved to temporary premises 17 August 1914 and pupils transferred to the new buildings in Heald Place 15 July 1920.The Mixed Department was divided into Boys and Girls Departments 9 April 1923 and took 30% of the pupils from Ducie Avenue School [M66/24]. The School was again reorganised under the Hadow Scheme 26 July 1929. Senior girls transferred to Claremont Road Senior Girls School. Senior Boys and Junior Mixed Departments were created at Heald Place with pupils from Heald Place, Claremont Road, Wilbraham Road and Upper Lloyd Street Schools [M66/155]. The Senior Boys Department was renamed Rusholme Secondary School for Boys in 1953. Closed 24 July 1968 and boys were transferred to Birley High School [M66/11]. The buildings were then taken over for a Primary School.
