Wesleyan Methodist meetings started in Delph in 1779. In 1804 the Delph society divided into Delph and Wool Road and the latter evenually became the Uppermill society. Delph Chapel belonged to Saddleworth Wesleyan Methodist Circuit and the successor Saddleworth and Lees Methodist Circuit. It is currently in Oldham and Saddleworth Circuit.
