The administrative records were returned in December 2017 and the records concerning the pupils (Admission and Discharge registers, Admissions and Discharges (loose leaves) and Daily Registers) were returned in June 2023.

Manchester Remand Home for Boys was located at 'Brookfield', Wilmslow Rd., Cheadle, until the owners of the property, Cheadle and Gatley U.D.C. required use of it in 1955.On 11 August 1955 the boys were transferred to 'Rose Hill', Langley Lane, Northenden.'Rose Hill' had been the home of the Watkin family from 1832 until 1902, when it was sold, following the death of Sir Edward Watkin in 1901.It was acquired by the Manchester Poor Law Guardians in 1914/15, being opened as an Ophthalmia School in September 1915.After the Second World War it was used as a Children's Convalescent Home, and then a Residential Nursery for the under fives.The Nursery was moved out to accommodate the boys from 'Brookfield', and it became 'Rose Hill Remand Home' from 11 August 1955.In the 1970s the Remand Home became an Observation and Assessment Centre (described as such in 1977 Guide to Regional Resources).It closed on 4 November 1986, but re-opened on 16 March 1987 offering a Remand Service and Continued Independence Units. 'Rose Hill' closed finally on 12 May 1990. The Residential Remand Work and Community Remand Work were continued at 69 Dickenson Rd., Rusholme.
