A professor and former political activist returns home after ten years in prison - a broken man. He cloaks himself in darkness, pushing away friends and family, until a knock at the door shakes his new existence. His visitor is Desire, an enigmatic student who has grown up idolising Prof. She returns each night to his pitch-black room, where slowly the two begin to forge an unlikely intimacy. But the darkness which provides a vital comfort for Prof becomes a steady torment for Desire, leaving Prof with a difficult choice - keep the lights turned off or risk losing Desire.
