Custodial history:
All Souls' was built at the expense of Thomas Greenhalgh of Thorndykes, Sharples. The school was used for worship from December 1879 and the church consecrated on 30 June 1881. A district was assigned from St James's Waterloo Street, by order in Council, 29 November 1879 (London Gazette, 12 December). The two parishes were re-united after the closure of St James's in 1962, as All Souls' with St James's by Order in Council, 11 November 1966 (London Gazette, 17 November 1966). In 1987 the parish was united with St Thomas's, Halliwell.
