The foundation stone was laid on 9 March 1861 and the church consecrated on 29 March 1862. It was assigned a District from St. Saviour's by Order in Council, 19 July 1862 (London Gazette, 22 July 1862).
In 1962 on the demolition of St. Luke's, Chorlton upon Medlock, the two parishes were united as St. Paul with St. Luke, by Order in Council, 25 January. (London Gazette, 26 January 1962).
St. Saviour's was united with St. Paul and St. Luke, by Order in Council, 23 June (London Gazette, 25 June 1971), and the parish renamed Christ Church, Brunswick.
The new church of Christ Church, Brunswick opened on 8 June 1974.
