queerupnorth has accumulated a quantity of video material, the majority of which has been submitted with material from artists hoping to appear at the festival. This material was in most, but not all cases, removed from the artists files and stored separately, with an artificial numbering system imposed. These numbers have been retained, being reflected in the document reference. That some films have gone missing and others are duplicated has resulted in the numerical sequence having some gaps. Five items of film remain within the artists files. These are M800/3/9/3/2/9; M800/3/9/3/1/1; M800/3/9/3/4/2; M800/3/12/3/7/7; M800/3/8/3/2/1.

The majority of this material, formatted mostly in VHS PAL, has been converted to DVD to preserve the originals, and is now permanently preserved as part of the Theatre Collection, Department of Drama, University of Bristol, Cantocks Close, Bristol BS8 1UP (telephone 0117 3315086/email theatre-collection@bristol.ac.uk/website www.bristol.ac.uk/theatrecollection). The DVDs are available to view at Manchester Archives and Local Studies, St Peter's Square, Manchester M2 5PD (telephone 0161 234 1980/email archiveslocalstudies@manchester.gov.uk). The catalogue includes some recordings of broadcasts that have not been copied to ensure compliance with copyright law. Where this is the case contact details are included instead for the programme makers. We are sorry that it is not possible to view all elements of the catalogue on a2a at item level, but would advise that there is a separate list of the video material available at Manchester Archives and Local Studies. Anyone requiring access to the films should contact Manchester Archives and Local Studies on 0161 234 1980 since notice will be required to use the appropriate facilities.
