Custodial history:
This collection relates to the North Manchester Camera Club of which Graham Ogden is the current secretary. Negotiations for its deposit with the D.P.A. were conducted largely through Brian Lomas, a member of the Club, who has previously undertaken a commission for the D.P.A. (C7).
The Simpson Memorial Camera Club began life in 1892. The Camera Club was founded under the aegis of the Simpson Memorial School which had opened in 1886 to serve the educational and social needs of the local community. The Club held regular weekly meetings, provided a darkroom for use by members, and organised rambles, field trips etc. Notwithstanding temporary interruptions due to World Wars One and Two, the Club has met continuously at the Simpson Memorial School since its inception. In 1978 the Club changed its name to the North Manchester Camera Club.
