Custodial history:
The foundation stone of Christ Church was laid on 29 July 1844 and the church consecrated on 21 October 1846. The site was given by Wilbraham Egerton of Tatton Park. A District was assigned to it by Bishops Instrument, 20 February 1847. This was enlarged by Order in Council, 8 June 1854 (London Gazette, 16 June 1854). In 1861 part of the parish was assigned to St. Peter's, Levenshulme, by Order in Council, 26 June (London Gazette, 28 June, 1861) and in 1888 part was assigned to All Saints, Heaton Norris, by Order in Council, 26 June (London Gazette, 28 June 1861). The boundaries of All Saints and Christ Church were altered by Order in Council, 20 March 1891 (London Gazette, 24 March 1891). In 1899 part of the parish was assigned to St. Martin's, Norris Bank, by Order in Council, 2 February, (London Gazette, 3 February) Christ Church was made redundant by Order in Council 16 July 1972, (London Gazette, 20 July 1973) and by Order in Council, 9 June 1976 (London Gazette. 15 June 1976) the parishes of Christ Church and All Saints, Heaton Norris, were united as Christ with All Saints, Heaton Norris.

The parish registers were deposited in the Library as Diocesan Record Office in 1978 by Mr. L. Grainger, former churchwarden, the School records in March and July 1989 by M.R. Powell, headmaster of Christ Church School and the remaining parish records in March 1989 by Mr. D.J. Richards, churchwarden of Christ with All Saints.
