Custodial history:
St. Andrew's started as a Sunday School in York St. in March 1862, transferring to Berry St. in 1863. It was decided to build a school-church, and the foundation stone was laid on 19 June 1865, and the opening service was held on 30 November 1865. Land was given for a church at Westwood, Oldham, by George Heywood of Oldham, surveyor. The foundation stone of this church at Middleton Rd. was laid on 20 August 1870, and it was consecrated on 9 May 1873. A District was assigned, from the parish of St. Mary, Gidham, by Order in Council, 12 December 1873, (London Gazette. 16 December 1873). By Order in Council, 9 February 1978, (London Gazette. 14 February 1978), St. Andrew's joined St. Mary with St. Peter, Oldham, and Holy Trinity, Coldhurst, as the parish of Oldham. The church was declared redundant, by Order in Council, 13 May 1981 (London Gazette. 19 May 1981), and demolished. St. Andrew's Worship Centre, was built nearby, as a dedicated worship centre, and services continued there until 26 July 1992, when the building was closed.
