Women's Suffrage Collection

19-20 cent.
Archives
The collection of letters and pamphlets, known as the Women's Suffrage Collection, is in fact two separate collections, both given to the Library in April 1922.
The papers of the Manchester Branch of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies (M50/1) were presented by Miss Margaret Ashton, formerly (1906-1915) chairman of the Manchester Society for Women's Suffrage.
The rest of the collection (M50/2-8) was presented by Millicent Garrett Fawcett, LL.D., former President of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, and consist of her own papers and printed material relating to women's suffrage and other women's questions.
The two collections have been left together, because during the fifty years since they have been in the library they have been widely used and quoted.
