General notes:
Arrangement:This collection was initially deposited by Mrs Barash at the Manchester Jewish Museum. The collection was then passed to Manchester City Archives on permanent deposit by the Museum. There has been some rearrangement of the collection overtime and during the boxing of the items. Mrs Barash did have an arrangement system indicated in her filing by dividers and each section given a code. For a copy of this filing code see M533/27/28
The arrangement of this catalogue has followed where possible as closely as possible Mrs Barash's original arrangement. However there were also several boxes of 'miscellaneous' items. Where these items obviously fitted into the main sequence of documents they have been added in.
The section titled Internment was not originally created by Mrs Barash but these documents had been grouped together in various folders and these folders were in various boxes. The section Adoption of Refugee Children this was not a section listed in Mrs Barash's filling system, these documents were found in two separate folders and put together to form one collection of documents. Both of these are artificial groupings as are the later sections from section 9 onward, except M533/25 [see note at section level].
In a previous re-arrangement of the collection items from M102 have been moved to M533. The criteria or reasons for this transfer are unknown but the items that were moved were mainly correspondence.
