General notes:
Manchester Nile Valley Conservation and Education Network (Mancoen) is a UK registered charity. The organisation works with amongst others, UK based communities originally from East Africa's Great Lakes region. The organisation delivers remedial, conservation as well as environmental protection educational services to various communities in the UK. In the Kitara Tales project the intention was to document and preserve the cultural heritage of the Ugandan community and how people from Uganda who are living in England are practicing their cultural heritage; to share knowledge of and promote Kitaran cultures and train volunteers to undertake social research and uncover aspects of Kitaran culture. Cultural heritage, for this project, included food, plants, necklaces and adornments, musical instruments and dances. The majority of interviewees were living in London or the South East of England at the time of the interview. Catalouge created Dec 2023 by Jo Robson
