Marisa Carnesky is a performance artist and theatre maker, whose work draws strongly on folk and fairytale traditions and gender politics and displays a fascination with burlesque, the fairground side-show and the more extreme oddities of 19th century popular entertainment. Her show 'Ghost Train' which toured the UK in 2004 and was scheduled for its world premiere presentation by queerupnorth in Albert Square from Wednesday 26-Sunday 30 May, was a unique theatrical experience set on a real amusement park ghost train that deposited them into a labyrinth of chambers where the phantasmagorical collided with the harsh realities of the migrancy and refugee experience. However all but two of these dates were cancelled due to technical problems with the ride.
