Custodial history:
The foundation stone was laid on 21 September 1874 and the church consecrated on 13 October 1877. This building was destroyed by fire on 1 October 1904. The new church was dedicated on 1 October 1906. A District was assigned to St. Chrysostom by Order in Council, 16 May (London Gazette 21 May 1878) from the parishes of St. James, Birch, St. John, Longsight and St. Saviour, Chorlton upon Medlock. Further parts of St. James, Birch and St. John, Longsight, were added by Order in Council, 4 May (London Gazette, 9 May 1911).
