Custodial history:
Worship began in a Mission Room serving the rural community of Abbey Hey, later called the 'Old School' and then 'St George's School Rooms'. A district was assigned by Order in Council 2 Feb 1899 from the parish of Gorton St James, and a building committee formed for the erection of a new church on land given by James Grimshaw and Mrs Harrington-Hulton and the church was consecrated in 1903. The church was extended in 1907. The School Rooms functioned as Church Hall and from 1939 to the late 1960s as a Baby and Child Health Clinic. The Church closed in 2006.
